Did You Know?

Brownlee Hall is named after Marcella Brownlee, born in 1872 in Allegheny, Pa. She graduated as valedictorian from St. Joseph Academy at Seton Hill and later became Sister M. Francesca. She played a major role in shaping Seton Hill, serving as both Directress of the Academy and the first Dean of the College. She worked with Mother Mary Joseph Havey to establish Seton Hill as a College. Sister Francesca was known for her elegant grace and queenly attitude. She passed away in 1949, leaving behind a lasting legacy on campus. Learn more Seton Hill history here.
