The Medical Spanish minor at Seton Hill allows students in a range of health care fields to combine language study with career preparation. Current Medical Spanish minors include students in Nursing, Physician Assistant, Osteopathic Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Exercise Science, Health Science and many other programs.

Students in the Medical Spanish minor participate in short-term study abroad in the Spanish-speaking world. Recent trips have included travel and study in Spain, Ecuador, Perú and Costa Rica.

Students pursuing the Medical Spanish minor also have the opportunity to collaborate with our Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy via simulated interpretation events (on campus) as well as international travel to Perú.

Every summer, Medical Spanish students and faculty serve as interpreters for physical therapists, completing a week of intensive service in Chimbote, Perú at a Maternity Hospital and regional clinics, and then participating in an optional extension to visit Cusco and Machu Picchu on the way home. For students who qualify to serve as interpreters, travel costs for the service experience are covered, making this a fabulous opportunity to expand interpretation skills and travel at low cost to the Spanish-speaking world!
