Dr. Barbara L. Kennedy Fund
A Fund to Support Research Into Human Rights Violations & Foster Authentic Interreligious Understanding
As a dedicated volunteer of the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education at Seton Hill University, Dr. Barbara L. Kennedy contributed to our work in Holocaust and genocide education and interreligious dialogue. She was a strong advocate for continued education and research in these fields. With a donation from Dr. Kennedy’s estate, we have been able to establish the Dr. Barbara L. Kennedy Fund. The fund will support research to counter antisemitism, promote awareness of human rights violations in the contemporary world, and to foster deeper and more authentic Jewish-Christian understanding.

About Dr. Barbara L. Kennedy
Dr. Barbara L. Kennedy was born on May 4, 1938, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Penn State University and received her Ph.D. and M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She served her residency at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, and served on the faculty of several universities. She had numerous publications in the field of psychiatry, cardiac function and metabolism, and was a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She spent eleven years at University of Louisville, Department of Psychiatry, where she was a researcher, teacher and in private practice. She later worked at UPMC. After her retirement, she moved to Greensburg. During this time, she became a dedicated volunteer of the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education at Seton Hill University and displayed her unwavering support for our mission on a daily basis. In addition to her work at the Center, Barbara was also a member of the Greensburg College Club, where she was the program director for several years. She also enjoyed the antiques and bridge clubs.
As the NCCHE facilitates lectures, conferences, and other events that educate that campus and community about the atrocities of the Holocaust and other genocides, Barbara’s spirited personality, her work ethic, and compassion will serve as a reminder of why our mission remains essential today.
