New Student Checklist
There are a few important steps to complete before you start classes. Use this checklist to stay on track and make sure you're ready for a great start at Seton Hill!
Things to Do as Soon as You're Accepted
Submit Your Enrollment Deposit
Confirm your spot at Seton Hill by submitting your deposit (and housing deposit) by using the Deposit Button above. You can also deposit through your Admissions Portal.
File the FAFSA (if you haven’t already)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the main source of information we use when creating financial aid packages for U.S. students. If you haven’t already filed it, please do so right away, and choose Seton Hill University as the school you’re interested in. (If you’re a Pennsylvania resident and want to be considered for state grants, please file the FAFSA prior to May 1. The FAFSA will still be open after May 1 for other forms of aid. If you don’t live in Pennsylvania, check with your State Agency for eligibility and deadline dates.)

Activate Your MySHU Account and Seton Hill Email Address
MySHU is our campus hub for news, announcements and all things Griffin Life. Set up your MySHU account and activate your official university email through your Admissions Portal.
Register for a Setonian Orientation
At Orientation, you'll schedule classes, get your Student ID and technology, and meet your future classmates. Orientation is required, so pick one that suits your schedule best! Orientation sessions are three hours long. Register through your Admissions Portal.
- Sat., May 30 - 9 AM or 1 PM
- Thurs., June 18 - 9 AM or 1 PM
- Fri., July 17 - 9 AM or 1 PM
- Wed., August 19 - 9 AM or 1 PM
Complete Required Placement Surveys
Take any placement survey required for your major/s. (Check your Admissions Portal to see if you have any you need to complete. )
Complete Your Online Health Requirements
Log in to your Admissions Portal and complete the following required items:
- Upload your Immunization Records
- Complete the online Health History Form
- Complete the online TB Risk Assessment Form
- Upload a copy of your active medical insurance card
Upload your Photo for Your Seton Hill ID
Provide a photo for your official student ID. You can do this through your Admissions Portal.
Submit Your Housing Application (if applicable)
Access your Admissions Portal to complete the application.
Things to Do Beginning in June
Submit Your Final Official High School Transcript
After graduation, ask your high school to send your final official transcript to Seton Hill. Information on the process of sending transcripts can be found at setonhill.edu/transcripts.
Submit College in High School or Dual Enrollment Credit transcripts (if applicable)
Send transcripts or exam scores for any of the following:
- College in High School courses
- Dual Enrollment courses
- AP Exams

Things to Do Beginning in July and Early August
Accept Your Financial Aid
Details on the process for doing this are coming soon!
Complete Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note if You’re Taking Out an Educational Loan (You should accept your Financial Aid before completing this step.)
Complete Federal Verification Process (if you are chosen to do so)
The Financial Aid Office will notify students selected for Federal Verification. You’ll need to submit all required documentation to Seton Hill’s Financial Aid Office.
Complete Your Consent to Release Information (As required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA)
You can also authorize a parent or guest to access your billing and financial information. Details on the process for doing this are coming soon!
Do You Have an Outstanding Balance After Aid?
Here are some ways to make paying your bill easier:
- Enroll in a payment plan through Nelnet (if applicable).
- Review additional loan options:
Check out Tuition Insurance
Tuition insurance can help protect your investment if unexpected situations affect your semester. GradGuard is a good option.
Set up Direct Deposit to Receive Financial Aid Refunds or Overpayments Faster

Check Tuition Payment Deadlines
Tuition payment information can be found at setonhill.edu/payment.
Apply for a Parking Pass
Register your vehicle and request a (free) parking permit if you plan to park on campus. You can do this here: tocite.net/setonhill/Portal. (You may need to be logged in to MySHU to access this portal.)
Join SHINE
Log in to SHINE, Seton Hill’s Student Life portal, to explore clubs, events and campus activities.
Explore the First Day® Complete Griffin Book Bundle
Learn how your textbooks and course materials are provided through the First Day® Complete program through our campus bookstore. You are automatically enrolled after course registration, with the option to opt out each semester. Get all the details here.
Sign up for Welcome Weekend
Fri., August 21 - Sun., August 23
Just for new students, Welcome Weekend is a fun way to meet all of your new friends and get used to campus before classes start. Register for this event through your Admissions Portal.
