40th Concert Season 2025-2026

Thursday, October 30th, 2025, 7:00 PM

Short Ride, Long Journey
The music curated for the performance includes compositions inspired by life’s many journeys, both short and long. Our opening and closing pieces draw inspiration from John Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine, among other well-known source material. Works by Ticheli, Gillingham, and Boysen utilize longstanding hymns and folksongs, while Maslanka’s work draws motivation from the chorale Nicht so traurig, nicht so sehr (Not so sad, not so much) to honor the end of a long journey, the retirement of a close friend.
