Human Anatomy Lab
About the Human Anatomy Lab
Seton Hill’s Anatomy Lab, housed in the Boyle Center for Health Sciences, provides students with the unique opportunity to have firsthand experience with real human anatomy. The Human Anatomy Lab features medical-grade equipment, including lighting that emulates that found in operating rooms. Programs that make respectful use of donor bodies include:
- Physician Assistant
- Exercise Science
- Forensic Science
- Orthodontics
- Physical Therapy
- Health Science
- Osteopathic Medicine
- Nursing
- Biology Pre-Medical
Opportunities of this caliber are a unique benefit and are not normally available for undergraduates (especially freshmen) at other universities.
Respect & Gratitude for Donors
The bodies used in the Human Anatomy Lab have been donated by people who wished to help advance the teaching of science and medicine. They are treated with the utmost respect by all students and faculty. The Catholic Social Teaching values of human dignity and respect are incorporated into lab classes through prelab assignments, required reflection and discussion, an art therapy workshop, a yearly Ceremony of Gratitude in Saint Joseph Chapel and a Blessing of the Donors ceremony.
