Social Studies - Education (7-12 Teaching Certification)

Prepare to Become a Social Studies Teacher

At Seton Hill, you have three options for preparing to earn teaching certification:

  1. You can earn a bachelor's degree as an undergraduate student while also fulfilling all of the academic requirements for teaching certification.
  2. You can add teaching certification preparation courses to a bachelor's degree you've already earned at Seton Hill (or elsewhere) as a postbaccalaureate student
  3. If you've already earned a bachelor's degree, you can complete your MAT in Secondary Education with associated teaching certification preparation in Biology 7-12, Chemistry 7-12, English 7-12, Mathematics 7-12 or Social Studies 7-12.

Seton Hill is approved by the Pa. Dept. of Education to provide education certification preparation. If you plan to teach in another state, you can do that, too; Pennsylvania has signed an Interstate Certification Agreement. The Social Studies -Education Program at Seton Hill will prepare you to obtain certification in grades 7 - 12.
