If you’ve ever been to Seton Hill University’s Performing Arts Center, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Molly Carbone. She’s often found in the scene shop, clad in a short-sleeved tee shirt and paint-stained jeans. Molly, a senior theatre design and technology major and art history minor, is one of the busiest students on campus. Her favorite activity at Seton Hill is being a member of the women’s field hockey team, but she is also the Seton Hill ambassador for Feeding the Spirit, an ambassador for Seton Hill’s SHU20 program, the vice president of the pick-up soccer club, and participates in Peer Ministry. 

Molly is heavily involved in Seton Hill’s Theatre Program. This semester alone, she is the associate technical director for Seton Hill’s production of “The Rivals,” the set designer for “The Wolves,” and the sound designer for the Student Theatre Activities Council’s production of “The Auburn Cycles,” written by fellow senior, Cameron Nickel.

Molly received the President’s Award for Service in the fall of 2019 for her dedication to several service projects, both at her home and at Seton Hill. These included going on Habitat for Humanity trips, helping in the garden at Seton Hill, raising money for Make-A-Wish with her field hockey teammates, volunteering at YMCA book sales, and participating in both of Seton Hill’s yearly days of service: Labor of Love in the fall and Take the Day On in the spring. When asked about the award, Molly responds humbly. “The president’s award was a shock. I don’t do anything for recognition. Everything I do is truly for the benefit of helping others. Never in a million years did I think I would ever have such an honor.” The words on the award describe her perfectly: “Molly consistently lives her values and offers her leadership in service to others.” 

Molly says that her favorite things about Seton Hill are the faculty and student body. "Everyone is so kind, and it is a lovely community that everyone is welcomed into.” While she is unsure of what she wants to do after she graduates in the spring, she is confident that her education at Seton Hill has prepared her for anything that comes her way. She describes how she has learned to be confident, the importance of valuable time management and communication skills, and the value of serving others. “No matter what I’m doing,” she says “I’m sure I will succeed.”
