Computer Science & Mathematics Major Makes a Change upon Discovering a New Passion
When asked why he chose Seton Hill University, junior Evan Suter simply answers, “on my visit, it was the first school where I felt like a person and not just a potential student.”
Evan, a 2016 graduate from Butler Area Senior High School, came to Seton Hill in pursuit of a political science degree but instead found a different passion during his freshman year. “I started out with political science because I wanted to work for central intelligence or NSA, then I realized that I wasn’t really into the political part of it. Working in a dealership sparked my passion for cars and made me want to work in the automotive industry, which led me to switch to computer science and math.”
When he’s not working off-campus, Evan is busy up here on The Hill as a campus tour guide and student ambassador, president of both the Seton Hill Social Media Ambassadors and the Foster Love Project, a student development officer, and a member of the math club and the intramural volleyball team. “Everyone always says it’s a small community up here, and it really is. I never have to feel like I belong to one group, and I can be a part of so much more with so many different people.”
This past summer, Evan traveled to Argentina on a May-term trip with Debra Fraszer-McMahon, Ph.D, to gain credits for Spanish and his global perspectives liberal arts course. “Seeing everything over there really emphasized for me that there is more to the world than just the things that I want to focus on. It was a really great experience, I'm glad that I took advantage of the study abroad opportunities Seton Hill has to offer!”
