Spanish & Physician Assistant Major to Study in Costa Rica
Madison Verrall to Study Medical Spanish & Complete Service Project During Semester Abroad
A year ago, Spanish and physician assistant double major Madison Verrall took advantage of a May Term trip to study abroad in Córdoba, Spain. She enjoyed it so much that her next study abroad trip - to San José, Costa Rica - will last a little bit longer.
“I'll be spending next semester in San José, Costa Rica living with a host family and studying Medical Spanish,” she says. “While I'm there I'll also have a service learning placement … my top choice is in a children’s hospital where I will spend time with the patients (typically boosting morale by reading, and playing) as well as learning about differences in health care in countries outside of the U.S.
In addition to being a double major, Madison is also involved with the Spanish Club, the Physician Assistant student society and Alpha Lambda Delta.
“It can be tough with such a busy course load,” Madison admits, “but I have no doubt that I’m going to be starting the experience of a lifetime!”
