Communication Major Lauren Dorsch ’10 Serves as Head of Communications for U.S. Animal Health, Bayer Corporation
Lauren Dorsch’s job with Bayer Corporation is all about building relationships.
“Whether it's with co-workers, journalists, nonprofits in our community, PR agencies or industry partners, my ability to enhance, maintain and defend the Bayer brand depends on the relationships I build and am able to maintain,” says Lauren, who oversees communications for Bayer’s U.S. Animal Health Business, which supplies health products both for pets and livestock.
In her job for the maker of such products as K9 Advantix II and Seresto, Lauren is responsible for media relations, community affairs, management of image and reputation, social media and employee communication. She started in Pittsburgh just after graduating with a communication degree from Seton Hill and moved to Kansas City in 2012.
“Seton Hill taught me about people and building relationships."
Lauren – who earned a master's of public health administration from the University of Missouri Kansas City – learned many of these relational skills during her college years in Greensburg. She is especially thankful for the lessons and mentorship provided by communication professor Frank Klapak.
“Seton Hill taught me about people and building relationships – in the classroom, in the cafeteria, on the field hockey field and in the dorms – you have to put into relationships what you want to get out of them,” she says. “Some of the relationships that started in college are just as strong today.”
Seton Hill’s young alumni are making their mark on the world through their work in science and healthcare, finance and business, industry, entertainment and service to those in need. The Spring/Winter 2017 edition of Seton Hill’s Forward magazine featured 30 of these alumni, all under the age of 30. You can find all of their stories here on Seton Hill’s site (just look for the “30 Under 30” icon).
