Seton Hill Graphic Design Major Designs Window Decals for Greensburg “Shop Local” Campaign
Graphic Design Internship with Greensburg Community Development Corporation Perfect Preparation for Graphic Design Profession
Greensburg merchants have benefited from the “Shop Small” initiative created by American Express that promotes Christmas shopping on “Small Business Saturday” (the day after “Black Friday,” or two days after Thanksgiving). In an effort to keep shoppers “thinking small” the rest of the year, the Greensburg Community Development Corporation created a “shop local” campaign.
“I've learned so much about how you get projects done while working with a lot of different moving parts which is a great lesson to have, especially since I'm about to graduate and move into the professional field of graphic design.”
To support the campaign, Seton Hill graphic design major Shelby Kyllo, an intern at the GCDC, has begun to create “Shop Local” decals – a unique design for every month - that will be produced and distributed by the GCDC for local retails stores to display.
“This internship has been great because you really get to learn how a lot of city events take place,” Shelby says. “I've learned so much about how you get projects done while working with a lot of different moving parts which is a great lesson to have, especially since I'm about to graduate and move into the professional field of graphic design.”
“The marketing aspect of this internship has been where I've had to learn the most,” she added. “I've never been responsible for social media or email marketing before, so there was a big learning curve there, but I'm so glad I've gotten the experience!”
