In His Own Words: Computer Science Internship Leads to Job After Graduation
"Starting Junior year I knew I had to start the process of finding an internship. I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted, so I started my search for software engineering, networking, and IT positions. My heart was set on networking, but I was open for anything. I ended up accepting an IT Internship with Bechtel during the summer or 2014. From day one I was constantly learning new information about technology that is used out in the field. I think one of the most rewarding parts of my internship was being able to relate to past coursework when working on various projects. Networking and Database Management were two of the most relevant courses when it came to my internship.
As I work day-to-day with top engineers from other schools I feel confident that I got the most out of my education during my time at SHU.
My internship acted as a stepping stone for my current position as an associate networking/communication administrator. Going into this job, the Computer Science Program at Seton Hill set me in the right direction of where I wanted to take my career. As I work day-to-day with top engineers from other schools I feel confident that I got the most out of my education during my time at SHU. Computer science is a wide field, but I know I made a great choice."
