Women’s Basketball Makes Round Two of NCAA Tournament, Earns Most Wins Since Joining NCAA

The Seton Hill women's basketball program made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since many of the players were in elementary school. After 15 seasons without an appearance, the Griffins earned an at-large bid in this year's tournament.

The Griffins finished the season with a record of 24-7 and set a single-season program record for wins since the team joined the NCAA in 2013.

Led by head coach Maeve Gallagher, the Griffins ranked in both national polls throughout the season. Gallagher and sophomore forward Mia Kalich were recognized as PSAC Coach of the Year and PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year.

Mia, along with junior guards Helene and Hallie Cowan, earned PSAC West First Team Selections. Both Hallie and Helene scored their 1,000th points this season and Mia was third in Division II in steals.

The third-seeded Griffins eased through the first round of the tournament at Edinboro, defeating sixth-seed Kutztown with a score of 89-75 before facing Gannon in the Atlantic Regional semifinal.

Seton Hill lost to second-seed Gannon with a score of 80-70 to end their tournament run. Gannon also ended the Griffins’ time in the PSAC tournament with a defeat in the quarterfinal.
