Production part of Pittsburgh CLO Gallery of Heroes Series
Seton Hill University will host The Next Galileo, book, music, and lyrics by Joseph Domencic, Associate Professor of Musical Theatre, in the Reichgut Concert Hall at the Seton Hill Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Avenue, Greensburg, Pa. Free reserved seating is available through the Seton Hill Performing Arts Center Box Office at www.setonhill.edu/tickets.
Performance: April 3, 7 p.m. Performance is approximately 50 minutes long with a performer talk-back afterward.
The Next Galileo tells the story of 13-year-old Gabriella, who is full of questions but short on confidence as the quietest kid in the school's astronomy club. That all changes when she takes an amazing journey back in time to meet the legendary astronomer, Galileo Galilei, and assist him as he races to finish his first telescope. While working with the "father of science" on his revolutionary discoveries, Gabriella learns valuable lessons about the importance of curiosity and courage in the face of adversity. Through a remarkable friendship that spans four centuries, Gabriella and Galileo take audiences on an adventure that champions the joy of scientific discovery and the wonders of the imagination. This performance is recommended for ages 7-14.
The Next Galileo musical is part of the Pittsburgh CLO’s Gallery of Heroes series, which highlights the lives and accomplishments of significant historical figures through mini-musicals at local schools.
Domencic wrote The Next Galileo for the Gallery of Heroes series, and it debuted in 2015. The show at Seton Hill is an opportunity to expand the reach of the musical to children and their families outside of the school setting.
