Dr. Jared "Jay" Burns, Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Seton Hill, was recently recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times as one of the "20 People to Know in Higher Education."
A Q&A with Dr. Burns, who was promoted to Dean last August after more than a decade as a professor at Seton Hill, was published in the March 21 print edition of the weekly publication and online.
Dr. Burns manages Seton Hill’s academic programs in the School of Business and Technology, collaborates with the MBA director, supports faculty development and drives strategic initiatives. His work includes curriculum planning, meeting with faculty and student engagement.
In the piece, Burns was asked about his immediate goals as dean, how K-12 education can better prepare students for the changes coming to higher ed, and the research he is conducting.
"Recently I’ve focused on emerging technologies, particularly AI and analytics in industry operations. In particular, I have a few student research groups covering sentiment analysis for crude oil/stocks options, as well as neural networks for health care performance and recommendation systems to name a few," he said in the article. "My research explores strategies for companies to implement these technologies effectively to make improvements."
