Seton Hill University Jodee Harris Gallery to Host Archives of the Allegheny Metals Collective Oct. 12 to Nov. 10

Seton Hill University’s Jodee Harris Gallery will host an exhibition of the Archives of the Allegheny Metals Collective from October 12 to November 10, 2023.

The Archives of the Allegheny Metals Collective exhibition features the work of 15 artists including Seton Hill Professor of Art Pati Beachley and Associate Professor of Art Brian Ferrell. Other artists include Sue Amedolara, Jim Bové, Cappy Counard, Glen Gardner, Rachael Hicks, Kattie Jones, Sean MacMillan, Sharon Massey, Courtney Powell, Katie Rearick, Stacy Rodgers, Todd Rodgers and Kayla Staigvil.

This exhibit is unique in that most exhibitions – aside from retrospectives – feature recent artist work; the works featured in this exhibition are between seven and 15 years old. Both artwork and materials which inspired the work, such as drawings, photographs, postcards and other objects, will be on display.

An opening reception for Archives of the Allegheny Metals Collective will be held on October 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. At 6 p.m., San Francisco artist and jeweler Amy Tavern will be giving a lecture about the importance and process for creating a living archive of one’s artwork titled “The Living Archive.”

The Jodee Harris Gallery is located in the Seton Hill Arts Center, 205 West Otterman St., Greensburg, Pa. For more information, please contact Emily Franicola, Gallery Director, at efranicola@setonhill.edu.

Katie Rearick founded Allegheny Metals Collective in 2015 to connect makers working in jewelry and metals in the western Pennsylvania region. She currently runs workshops at Contemporary Craft in Lawrenceville and was recently featured in Table Magazine.
