Ariana Scott ‘22 was recently featured in a Tribune-Review article about her time spent in Africa this summer working on clean water projects. 

Scott, who is working towards her master’s degree in international development and public health at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, earned degrees in sociology and political science from Seton Hill. 

In June, she took a 13-hour flight from New York to Kenya and traveled across the country for seven weeks working on various water-related social and academic internship duties.

The internship, made possible through Pitt’s Center for African Studies, focused on community-managed borehole water projects, which are alternative sources of clean water for communities that do not have access to county provided water.

During her time at Seton Hill, Ariana was on the Model United Nations team and was a Millenium Fellow working with a team of other Seton Hill students on sustainability projects. She was also an Eva Fleischner Scholar with the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education at Seton Hill.

Ariana was also featured on the Guttmacher Institute website as a recipient of the 2023 Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship. Scott and Elliot Harrison-Lee of Brown University were selected to receive the scholarship out of a pool of almost 300 applicants.
