Seton Hill Athletic Teams Earn Top Team GPA Awards in PSAC for 2017-18
Four Seton Hill University athletic teams earned the Top Team GPA Awards from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for their academic achievements in the 2017-18 academic year, PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray announced today.
Seton Hill’s baseball, women’s cross country, women’s soccer and women’s track and field teams received the Top Team GPA Award for their respective sports.
In addition, Griffin athletes had the second highest overall GPA in the conference for 2017-18 with a 3.374 GPA. Seton Hill student-athletes have had the highest or second highest GPA in the conference in all five years the university has competed in the PSAC.
"On behalf of the entire Seton Hill community, I extend my congratulations to our student-athletes who continue to demonstrate a commitment to success both in the classroom and on the playing field,” said Mary C. Finger, Ed.D., Seton Hill president.
“I am proud of the dedication Seton Hill’s student-athletes have shown year-after-year toward achieving at the highest levels in their education and in their athletic pursuits,” said Executive Director for Athletic Programs Chris Snyder. “I join with our coaches in congratulating these four teams and all of our student-athletes on their outstanding accomplishments.”
The four Seton Hill athletic teams received the Top Team GPA Award from the PSAC for reaching the highest GPA among their sports across the conference, which includes 18 public and private institutions in Pennsylvania.
The awards, released at the conclusion of the academic year, honor the teams with the top cumulative team grade point average in each of the sponsored sports within the PSAC. The league hosts 23 championships, however, for the award purposes, indoor and outdoor track and field are counted as a single sport.
