New Residence Hall planned for Fall 2019
Seton Hill will construct a new residence hall to meet student population growth and an increased need for on-campus housing.
Greensburg City Council recently approved the site plan for the new 145-bed residence hall, which will be located in the area of three existing residence halls on campus, DeChantal Hall, Brownlee Hall and Farrell Hall, creating a common quad area for all four buildings to share.
The three-story, suite-style residence hall will increase on-campus housing from an existing 776 beds to 921 beds. Currently, Seton Hill is leasing 56 beds for students at off-campus facilities to meet the increased need for student housing.
The new residence hall will provide current undergraduate students the space needed to live on campus and will allow for future enrollment growth. The additional space will also enhance the overall student experience at Seton Hill. Students who live on campus tend to have more time to study, interact with their peers and faculty, and engage in campus events and activities, which contributes to their academic enterprise and their readiness for post-graduate experiences.
Seton Hill currently has seven residence halls on campus: Maura, Canevin, Lowe, Havey, Brownlee, Farrell and DeChantal. The last residence hall constructed on Seton Hill’s campus was DeChantal, which opened in 2005.
The architect for the new Seton Hill residence hall is EwingCole, and the contractor is PJ Dick. Construction is anticipated to begin in June with completion by July of 2019. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy for the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year.
