Seton Hill Baseball Team Honors Veterans, Students in the Military
Seton Hill's baseball team held a Military Appreciation Day on April 28 to honor veterans and military personnel and make a donation to the It's About the Warrior Foundation.
Three current Seton Hill students who serve in the military threw out the ceremonial first pitches of the doubleheader with Clarion University.
They are Robert Karmonick, a sophomore from Shillington, Pa majoring in cybersecurity, who is an Airman First Class and currently crew chief at the 193rd Special Operations wing and active in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard; Aleia Bellot, a senior majoring in criminal justice from St. Thomas Virgin Islands, who joined the Army Reserve in February 2013 and is currently a Specialist working as a wheeled vehicle mechanic; and Nicole Stricek,a freshman from Wyano, Pa. majoring in forensic science, an Army Reservist in the 305th MP company in Wheeling, W.Va.
The team also honored retired Marine Cpl. Brandon Rumbaugh, who attended Seton Hill in the Fall 2017 and was a member of the baseball team before joining the Marines. Rumbaugh lost both of his legs while serving in Afghanistan and has worked since on programs to support veterans and their families.
The baseball team made a $500 donation to the It's a Warrior Foundation as Rumbaugh serves on its board. The team also presented him with the game jersey he would have worn 10 years ago if he had continued his playing days at Seton Hill.
