Undecided Majors at SHU to be Subject to Sorting Tam O’Shanter
Since more students are entering Seton Hill without a declared major, the University is offering a new service to help.
The sorting tam o’shanter, once placed on an incoming student's head, will announce the perfect major for that student in an odd, somewhat disturbing hiss.
While this is not the first time a sorting hat has been used at a prestigious private university, it’s the first time one has been used to assist with major decisions. The university chose the tam o’shanter – a fancy beret of Scottish origin – to honor the University’s historic ties to Scotland.
This service will also be available to current students wanting to change majors.
