The Seton Hill Arts Center has received a 2015 Building Excellence Award from the Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania.

The Center received the Building Excellence Award for New Construction Between $10 and $25 Million, which was presented at the Construction Industry Evening of Excellence held on February 25 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.

"Seton Hill University is grateful for this wonderful recognition from the Master Builders' Association of Western Pennsylvania,” said Mary C. Finger, Ed.D., Seton Hill President. “The Seton Hill Arts Center allows students in the University's visual arts and dance programs to grow together as an artistic community while also contributing to the City of Greensburg's growth and development. Seton Hill's long tradition of teaching and promoting the arts is realized more fully with this new facility, which offers wonderful new spaces for Seton Hill students and faculty along with community members studying dance through the University's Dance Academy as well as those attending art exhibitions at the Center's galleries. The Seton Hill Arts Center joins with the newly renovated Westmoreland Museum of American Art and the University's Performing Arts Center in contributing to the artistic and cultural vibrancy of the City of Greensburg."

“The Seton Hill Arts Center has been teeming with activity since its opening last fall, offering our students and faculty an amazing outlet for their creativity,” said Curt Scheib, Chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts. “We are pleased that the Center, our general contractor, P.J. Dick Inc., as well as designLab Architects and Balog, Steines, Hendricks and Manchester Architects, have been honored for this distinctive metal and glass building that serves to enhance the cultural offerings in the City of Greensburg.”

The Seton Hill Arts Center, which opened in August 2015, provides dance and art studios, gallery and office space for students and faculty in Seton Hill University’s Division of Visual and Performing Arts. A foundry, clay studio, graphic design labs, drawing and painting studios, and three dance studios are among the spaces in the Center, which is located at the corner of West Otterman Street and College Avenue in downtown Greensburg.

Constructed by P.J. Dick Inc. of Pittsburgh, the Center was designed by designLab Architects of Boston, Mass. and Balog, Steines, Hendricks and Manchester Architects of Youngstown, Ohio.

The MBA Building Excellence Awards are the highest, most sought-after commercial construction industry awards in Western Pennsylvania. Since its inception in 1994, the Building Excellence Awards program has portrayed the positive impact of the construction industry in our region.

The MBA Building Excellence Award is the second honor for the Seton Hill Arts Center.

In December 2015, the Center received a Gold Commonwealth Award in the Community Institution category from 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania for its role in expanding economic development to the City of Greensburg.
