Seton Hill Hires New Vice President for Enrollment Management
Brett Freshour to Lead Enrollment Management Team
Seton Hill University President Mary C. Finger, Ed.D., has announced the appointment of Brett Freshour as the University’s Vice President for Enrollment Management. Freshour will assume the role by mid-March.
“Brett Freshour has a long and notable record in student recruitment and retention efforts that spans more than 25 years,” Finger said. “We know Brett will lead our enrollment team in connecting outstanding students with Seton Hill’s high quality academic programs. He will be an extraordinary addition to the Seton Hill community.”
“I am honored to be chosen as Vice President for Enrollment Management at Seton Hill, and I am eager to join such a well-respected institution,” Freshour said. “I am excited to tell Seton Hill’s story to potential students and their families and bring future Setonians to this wonderful campus.”
Freshour, who was selected from a field of more than 50 applicants, will be responsible for undergraduate admissions, graduate and adult studies, financial aid, student accounts and marketing at Seton Hill.
Brett Freshour comes to Seton Hill from Walsh University, a Catholic institution in North Canton, Ohio, where he served as Vice President for Enrollment Management for nearly 17 years.
At Walsh, Freshour increased full-time undergraduate enrollment by 100 percent and increased the university’s residential population by 175 percent. Walsh’s full-time freshman enrollment has increased from 243 in the fall of 1998 to nearly 500 annually, and the first-year students are coming from more varied geographic and ethnic backgrounds and with a stronger academic profile. Freshour also led Walsh’s Retention Task Force and developed an in-house financial aid leveraging model.
Prior to his position at Walsh University, Freshour served as an independent consultant for Mount Mary College and Springhill College; was Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Management at LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pa.; was Director of Admissions at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C.; and was Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.
His first position in the enrollment field was at his alma mater, Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, where he served as Assistant Dean of Admissions. Freshour graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Heidelberg.
