The Seton Hill University Theatre and Dance Program will present “Dance Spectrum” May 9-11, 2014 at the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center, William Granger Ryan Theatre. “Dance Spectrum” presents a variety of choreographic styles, from ballet to modern to Broadway and features solo, duet and ensemble numbers. When Two Rivers Meet, a collaborative effort between Seton Hill and The Spilling Ink Project, a multi-arts organization based in Washington, D.C. that has a mission to interpret, create, perform and present performing, visual and literary arts of India and the diaspora, will be highlighted. University dancers have been working with Vijay Palaparty and Nalini Prakash of The Spilling Ink Project since the fall of 2013 learning classical Indian dance. These dancers will be joined by a group choreographed by Seton Hill dance faculty TaMara Swank and Stefan Zubal, who are working in a modern style influenced by the classical Indian style. The two groups will dance together in a section of the work created by all four choreographers. Other pieces include: Bach (Again), which features Seton Hill’s Una Voce choir conducted by Dr. Mark Boyle, assistant professor of music; Open and Close; Phenomenal Woman; The Rosemary Clooney Suite, and Awakening the Witch.

Julie Longwell of Moon Township, Pa. and Katelynn Reist of Cleona, Pa. are assistant choreographers for Bach (Again), while Rachel Friend is assistant to guest choreographers Vijay Palaparty and Nalini Prakash of The Spilling Ink Project for Two Rivers Dance as One.
