Seton Hill University Board of Trustees member Velma Monteiro-Tribble and E-Magnify women’s business center Director Jayne Huston will be honored at the 6th Annual Women of Achievement Awards Dinner on Wednesday, March 2, at 6 p.m. at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pa. The event is hosted by Celebrate and Share.

Monteiro-Tribble and Huston are two of the 22 women to be recognized with 2011 Women of Achievement Awards. According to Celebrate and Share, “a woman of achievement is one who, through her activities at work, profession, business and/or volunteer activities, makes our region one of the most livable cities in the United States.”

Velma Monteiro-Tribble has more than 30 years of experience in administration, philanthropic giving, leadership development and training, community development, community enterprise and evaluation and measurement with such organizations as the Alcoa Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, National Association for Community Leadership, United States Department of Education and Brown University. She also served as an administrator with the United States Peace Corps in Asia. Monteiro-Tribble worked on grantmaking initiatives and partnerships in 33 different countries, including Latin America and South Africa, and developed and managed international leadership seminars at the Salzburg Seminars in Salzburg, Austria. She serves on the Seton Hill University Board of Trustees and board of directors for the Grantmakers of Southwestern Pennsylvania, YMCA, Pittsburgh Mentoring Partnership and the Pittsburgh Zoo. Monteiro-Tribble is a co-chair and visiting fellow with Robert Morris University School of Education and Social Sciences. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Stillman College in English.

As Director of Seton Hill University’s E-Magnify women’s business center, where she has been employed for 17 years, Jayne Huston is responsible for the strategic vision and administrative oversight of E-Magnify, including directing all programs and initiatives to promote women and business ownership in a 27-county western Pennsylvania market. E-Magnify is part of a national network of women’s business centers under the United States Small Business Administration’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership. Huston serves on the statewide board of directors for the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. Locally, Huston is a member of the board of directors for accessAbilities, Inc. and is a member of the Status of Women in Westmoreland County Project Team and the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council. She additionally participates on Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Spotlight on Women in Business” Advisory Panel. Recently, Huston was active with the 2010 United States Women’s Open Executive Committee when the tournament was held at Oakmont Country Club. Huston earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and communication from Point Park University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Seton Hill University.

The Women of Achievement Event was established in 2006 by Celebrate and Share, an organization founded in 2002 by Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn R. Forrester. Celebrate and Share is dedicated to raising funds for women and children in need. The organization annually highlights the contributions and achievements of women in the greater Pittsburgh area at the Women of Achievement Event. The goal of the Women of Achievement Event is to establish the Pennsylvania Women’s Hall of Fame. Funds raised through the Women of Achievement Event benefit Cribs for Kids.
