Seton Hill Students’ Project Benefits Local Young Women and Honduran Children
Kelli Alfieri and Lauren Sciacca Create Mission ImPROMible-Designer Dress Sale Open to Public 9/11-12
Mission ImPROMible, a designer dress sale coordinated by Seton Hill University sophomores Kelli Alfieri, of Delmont, Pa., and Lauren Sciacca, of Monessen, Pa., will be held on Saturday, September 11, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, September 12, from 12-5 p.m. in the Administration Building, Room 206, on Seton Hill University’s hilltop campus. This event is open to the public and all proceeds will benefit Mission Honduras International. For more information, please e-mail mission.impromible@gamil.com.
Over 100 designer dresses, ranging from size 0 to 28, will be for sale at a fraction of the original price. The dresses, which were donated by local prom shops, feature creations by 20 leading designers, including Alyce, Tony Bowls, Flirt by Maggie Sottero, Jovani and Nika. To see pictures of the dresses and prices, visit Mission ImPROMible’s Facebook site, Mission ImPROMible.
“The dresses are brand new. Young women may have tried them on in the stores but the dresses have never been worn outside of the store,” said Alfieri, who is employed by Exquisite Bride , Murrysville, Pa., which is one of the shops donating dresses.
Mission ImPROMible was founded by Alfieri and Sciacca in 2010 as a service project for the Seton Hill University Communication Club. The purpose of Mission ImPROMible is to provide young women with formal, designer dresses for Homecoming events, holiday dances, recitals, and proms.
Alfieri and Sciacca, who are both majoring in communication and have business minors, began planning the designer dress sale after prom season in May.
“We thought the event would be a great way for young women to get designer dresses at a more affordable price and the event benefits a good cause,” said Alfieri.
