GREENSBURG, PA- The Seton Hill College Women’s Volleyball Team qualified for the American Mideast Conference Playoffs to be held at Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Mt. Vernon Ohio Thursday, November 15th and Friday, November 16th. The top 3 finishers in this 12-team Playoff format along with the winner of the Independent Playoff winner will move on to the Regional Playoffs on Saturday to determine who will represent the American Mideast Conference in the N.A.I.A. National Tournament to be held the week of November 29th at Palm Beach Atlantic College in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Seton Hill College has been well represented in the playoffs since moving to the N.A.I.A. They have been to the National Championships four times, Regional Championships six times and many Conference Championships.
Out of a twenty-one-team conference, the largest in the country in the N.A.I.A., Seton Hill finished tied for tenth with a record of 19-14 overall with a winning percentage of 576 and 11-12 in Conference play with a winning percentage of 478. The entire team including the starting rotation of three freshman and three seniors along with specific position players coming off of the bench pulled together to attain their pre-season goal of getting to the playoffs. Coach Rick Hall notes “The leadership and desire of our three seniors, Nikki Dominic, Corey Pisula and Nicole Flores is what helped to get us to this point. In a, “learn as you go”, situation the underclassmen have responded wonderfully. Although we all realize that we have a long way to go.”
Considering that Seton Hill lost three key players to injuries, Jenn Vosefski of Latrobe (acl), April Santavy of Hempfield (acl) and Eryn Ellsworth of Beth Center (ligament damage), the Spirit are proud and excited to represent Seton Hill College in post season play.
