GREENSBURG, PA- John Fogle, Athletic Director at Seton Hill College, announced that Melissa Hagg, daughter of Larry and Nancy Hagg of Smethport, PA, will attend Seton Hill on a softball scholarship. Hagg will begin classes in Fall 2001.
“Melissa will have an immediate impact,” said Fogle, also the softball coach for Seton Hill. “I have seen her pitch and she has the skills and attitude to become a competitive collegiate pitcher. Her ability to mix pitches will help her win games for our program.”
On the softball ball team at Smethport Area High School, Hagg was the 2000 MVP for Softball, pitching for the 1999 and 2000 District IX Softball Champion teams. She was a North Tier League Volleyball Honorable Mention All-Star and a scholar athlete from 1997-2001. In addition, she was treasurer of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Secretary and is listed in Who’s Who Among High School Students. She is also a member of the Spanish Club, the “Varsity S” Club and the Senior Choir.
“I chose to attend Seton Hill for the academic program first, but also for the opportunity to raise my softball to the next level,” Hagg said, who is planning on majoring as a physician assistant in the fall. “I also like the small school atmosphere at Seton Hill. I look forward to attending in the fall.”
