George Elliott maintains a busy career as one of Pittsburgh’s most sought after musicians. He received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Performance from Duquesne University. In 2005, he was awarded Finalist - Honorary Mention in the Bass Extremes International Solo Bass Competition at Coastal Carolina University. Judges of the competition were Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, John Patitucci, Will Lee, Anthony Jackson, Jonathan Herrera (Bass Player magazine) and Gregg Bissonette. He is currently bassist with the modern country band North of Mason - Dixon (NOMaD)- writing and recording several albums, performing concerts and festivals throughout the United States, opening for Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Brett Michaels, and was the grand prize winner in the Mello Yello ‘One Track Find’ competition. Performance/recording credits include: River City Brass Band, Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, Civic Light Opera, PPU Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, bassist for Forever Plaid under the direction of Guy Stroman at CLO Cabaret Theater and Mountain Playhouse, Heritage Gospel Chorale of Pittsburgh, The Latshaw Pops Orchestra, The Marcels, Liberty DeVito (Billy Joel), Eddie Manion (Bruce Springsteen), Joe Grushecky, Sun King Rising, Magdalena Tul (Poland), Joe Piscopo, Dr. Zoot. He has studied privately with Jeff Berlin, Jeff Mangone, Joe Negri, Eric Kloss, Mike Tomaro, Tony Janflone, Sr., and William Purse. He has maintained a private teaching studio for over 30 years, with many of his students being accepted to numerous music schools throughout the country & pursuing their own careers in music.
