Matt graduated with honors from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, earning degrees in Piano Performance and a Master of Arts in Teaching. He has studied under esteemed piano instructors such as Carol Ingram, Clarence Watson, Trudy Pitts, and Jamar Jones. Matt has performed alongside notable musicians like Rick Kerber, Chris Vadala, Bill Watrous, Jeff Jarvis, R&B artist Vivian Green, and Tower of Power's Dave Garibaldi. As a freelance writer and arranger, he has contributed over 20 books and hundreds of arrangements to renowned publishers such as Alfred Publishing, Lifeway Christian Resources, The Lorenz Company, Mercer University Press, Shawnee Press/Hal Leonard, and Word Music/Warner. He has also recorded two solo piano albums. Matt has led workshops for Steinway & Sons and Jacobs Music Company in the greater Philadelphia area and at the Lancaster International Piano Festival. In 2017, Matt was honored as a Grammy-nominated Music Educator Quarter-Finalist. His piano students have achieved significant honors, including selection for the All-South Jersey Jazz Band, All-State Jazz Band, and the Mid-Atlantic Grammy Band.
