Born and raised in the Pittsburgh suburb of New Kensington, Tom started his piano training at age 9. He holds a B.A. in Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While there, he studied Classical Piano Composition, Jazz Theory, and Arranging. Tom also holds a M.M. in Performance - Jazz Studies from Florida State University where he earned a teaching assistantship. Tom has composed and arranged for the FSU Jazz Ensemble, The IUP Jazz Ensemble, the "Late Nite" Jazz Ensemble, The Real Silk Band, the Phoenix Jazz Project and the Traverser Saxophone Quartet, among others. Tom has performed not only in and around the Pittsburgh area, but also in Europe including Russia, Belgium, Prague, Budapest, Krakow, Vienna, Germany, London, and others. Tom's influences include Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, and Russell Ferrante.
